It may only be a small place, but the town of Dunbar in East Lothian has a rich and exciting history. Because of its close proximity to the border, Dunbar was often fought over by the English and the Scots, and different sides were routed again and again. Luckily things had cooled off a bit by the start of the 19th century, and the town became a popular seaside resort on the Scottish coast. It's even known by some as Sunny Dunny!

This design shows the facade of the Dunbar tollbooth, its iconic hexagonal tower topped with a graceful lead-covered spire. It's probably the oldest town house of its kind in Scotland - the council chamber and administrative centre of the Burgh over centuries. For some time, this was also where Dunbar's criminals were locked up - apparently, you can still see graffiti left on the cell walls by some of the prisoners.

In front is the statue of a young John Muir - the Scottish-American environmentalist, fundamental to the creation of Yosemite National Park in California, was born in Dunbar in 1838. So whether you're a fan of Sunny Dunny or a John Muir enthusiast, this tea towel is just the thing for you!

Half Panama organic bleached cotton (heavy weight, textured finish). Stitched on all four sides. Includes hanging loop. Measures approximately 48cm x 70cm. Machine wash at 40 degrees max. We recommend that before you use your tea towel for the first time you wash it at least once to soften up the material and make it more absorbent for drying dishes. Please note size can vary slightly.
