They say that age is just a number, and that may be true for humans - but not for British landmarks! The Uffington White Horse is said to be over 3000 years old, making it the oldest chalk-cut hill figure in the country. It's so old, in fact, that the hill it's cut into is actually named after it: Whitehorse Hill!

Outlined by deep-cut trenches and filled with crushed chalk, the White Horse is visible from several miles away. And it's bigger than it looks, too, measuring a whopping 111 metres from the tip of its tail to its ear. That's why, during WW2, it had to be covered with turf and brushwood so it couldn't be used for navigation by Luftwaffe bombers.

This design shows the White Horse surrounded by green fields and rolling hills. Two people walk along the line of its tail, and a red kite glides overhead. The White Horse has inspired imitations across the country and the world, but none are as striking and elegant as the original - the perfect thing for a tea towel!

Half Panama organic bleached cotton (heavy weight, textured finish). Stitched on all four sides. Includes hanging loop. Measures approximately 48cm x 70cm. Machine wash at 40 degrees max. We recommend that before you use your tea towel for the first time you wash it at least once to soften up the material and make it more absorbent for drying dishes. Please note size can vary slightly.
