In the daytime it looks like any old building, but at night The Stockport Plaza comes to life, its red and green neon panels illuminating the street. This cinema in the heart of Stockport is one of the town's most unique attractions. People don't just come here to watch movies: they come to see the building itself!
Built in 1932, The Plaza has had a colourful and exciting life thus far. It opened as a cine-variety venue, with a mix of acts performing between films. But due to falling profits in the 1960s, the venue was sold and turned into a bingo hall and night club. Then, in the 1990s, the decision was taken to close The Plaza altogether. Faced by the risk of the building becoming entirely derelict, the people of Stockport campaigned together to bring The Plaza to life again. It was in October 2000 that it opened its doors once more as a cinema and theatre, restored in all of its former glory.
This design shows the striking facade of The Plaza, lit up with all of its 1930s Art Deco glamour! Go on: indulge your love of Stockport with this stunning tea towel!

Plaza Cinema and Variety theatre
Unusual image for Stockport but striking design and vibrant colours on a quality towel. Present to someone born in Stockport so as yet unused. All towels I ordered were well packaged and despatched swiftly. .

Love this!
Lovely, vibrant colours, just as on your website, this is a lovely quality tea towel, far too good to use for that purpose, really! I have washed it prior to using for the first time, as per your instructions.
