Rolling green hills, a pint of real ale, and a good game of cricket. It doesn't really get much better than that, does it?
The wonderful game of cricket was first invented in south-east England, originally played by children in the medieval period. In fact, some etymologists claim that the word 'cricket' comes from the Old English word 'cricc', meaning 'crutch' or 'staff' - referring to the cricket bat itself. These days cricket is England's national sport, and is played in countries all across the world. It even influences the way we speak: you might be 'on a sticky wicket' or have 'had a good innings', and most people will understand what you mean!
This stunning design celebrates all things English, from games of cricket on a sunny afternoon to idyllic parish churches hidden among the trees. So whether you're a cricket fan or a connoisseur of local ales, this tea towel is the perfect thing for brightening up your kitchen!
