The Smiths. The Stone Roses. Oasis. Blur. Just some of the huge names who performed at The Haçienda. It was co-owned by members of New Order, it was where Madonna had her first UK gig - as nightclubs go, this was where it was at.

But it wasn't so much the big names that made The Haçienda world-famous. The club really came into its own with the rise of the Madchester music scene. In '87 it became one of the first clubs in the UK to play house music, and soon enough clubs across the country were catching on, riding the wave of rave culture and the new availability of drugs like MDMA. For a few years, The Haçienda was the pinnacle of the city's peerless nightlife scene, but the fun couldn't last forever: it closed in 1997, and was demolished five years later.

This design shows The Haçienda in its glory days - bright lights, loud music and spaced-out dancers. And on the supporting pillars, the iconic yellow and black hazard stripes - a design which became synonymous with the club. Go on - indulge your Madchester nostalgia with this edgy tea towel.

Half Panama organic bleached cotton (heavy weight, textured finish). Stitched on all four sides. Includes hanging loop. Measures approximately 48cm x 70cm. Machine wash at 40 degrees max. We recommend that before you use your tea towel for the first time you wash it at least once to soften up the material and make it more absorbent for drying dishes. Please note size can vary slightly.

    Hacienda tea towel

This is a parent for my daughter who used to work (and Party) at the Hacienda in the 90’s. She will be thrilled and probably want to frame it
