Founded by the Romans on the banks of the River Thames, London is now one of the world’s most famous cities, and its landmarks are known and loved globally: Tower Bridge, Buckingham Palace, The London Eye, Westminster Abbey, the list goes on and on. But more than anything else, it’s the city’s modes of transport that have become truly legendary – its black cabs, its bright red buses and its world-class underground system.

Though the first ‘Hackney Carriages’ were horse-drawn carriages licensed back in the 1600s, the black cabs we’re familiar with today emerged in the years following the Second World War. Though different models have been produced over the years, the distinctive design of the 1958 Austin FX4 has stood the test of time: the black cab looks pretty much the same today as it did back then, with its large front grille and illuminated hire sign.

This tea towel celebrates the heritage and romance of the London Black Cab, chosen by Londoners as their favourite transport design icon in 2015. Go on: add some fun to your kitchen with this classic symbol of London!

Half Panama organic bleached cotton (heavy weight, textured finish). Stitched on all four sides. Includes hanging loop. Measures approximately 48cm x 70cm. Machine wash at 40 degrees max. We recommend that before you use your tea towel for the first time you wash it at least once to soften up the material and make it more absorbent for drying dishes. Please note size can vary slightly.

    London Black Cab Tea Towel

Vibrantly coloured, it's a beautiful and robust tea towel, suitable as artwork in itself, and also for drying dishes! Bought as a gift to commemorate a recent trip to London.
